An invitation to a local high school reunion has caused the fur to fly in Marin. The invite for a class reunion for Tamalpais High School class of 1980, contains images that are offensive-- or at the very least-- insensitive. The invitation in question has a graphic of the now-banned former school name and mascot, the Tamalpais High Indians. In addition, an old image of a flirty Indian maid is also pictured. The mascot was changed to the Red Tailed Hawks in 1990. The Pacific Sun's Nikki Silverstein mentioned the invite in her Hero and Zero column chastising the senders...

As Ford takes the wraps off the new 2011 Explorer today with a stellar, multi-city throwback reveal combined with a social media offensive its easy to see why theyre excited about it. The new Explorer is lighter, much better looking, safer, quieter, exhaustively equipped, technically sophisticated, dramatically more efficient and with light-years better driving dynamics thrown-in for good measure. In short, there is nothing about the 2011 version of the Explorer that bears any resemblance to the vehicle that came before it. The only thing the new vehicle shares with the old one is the name, which has...

| Schools confusing effort with results By Michael Graham | Tuesday, July 20, 2010 | http://www.bostonherald.com | Op-Ed If you find this column trite, unenlightening or grammatically-challenged, all I ask is that you treat me like a public school student: Give me an A for effort. Schools across New England have been publishing their end-of-year honor rolls in the local papers. Many of these schools - from Rockport to Bedford, N.H. to Cumberland, R.I. - also include something called the Effort Honor Roll. This is the honor roll for kids who, well, didnt actually make the honor roll but should feel... |

GO, MICHIGAN STATE! Very interesting -- the University is standing by their professor and not bowing down to special interest groups! The story begins at Michigan State University with a mechanical engineering professor named Indred Wichman. Wichman sent an e-mail to the Muslim Student's Association. The e-mail was in response to the students' protest of the Danish cartoons that portrayed the Prophet Muhammad as a terrorist. The group had complained the cartoons were 'hate speech.' Enter Professor Wichman. In his e-mail, he said the following: Dear Muslim Association, As a professor of Mechanical Engineering here at MSU I intend to...

WASHINGTON, July 16 (UPI) -- The number of U.S. Army soldiers who committed suicide hit a record in June, statistics reveal. The Defense Department reported 32 suicides in June -- 21 active-duty troops and 11 National Guard or Reserve forces, making it the worst month on record. The Army renewed its commitment to suicide prevention and outreach to soldiers who might be at risk at a time when repeat tours of duty have taken a heavy toll on soldiers who have fought during the nine years of war in Iraq and Afghanistan, USA Today reported. "The hypothesis is the same...
